HOW DO I SUBMIT MY PROCESSING FEE?

Please see the Registration section for detailed instructions for submitting your processing fee.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR SELECTING THE FINALISTS?

Each submission will be reviewed by the SUMMIT Jury. We will be reviewing your Resume, Portfolio, Letter(s) of Recommendation, and most importantly your Letter of Intent. The 3-5 students that have outstanding ideas for the Letter of Intent will be selected to participate in SUMMIT 2010.

DOES MY LETTER OF INTENT NEED TO CONSIST OF AN IDEA THAT IS TANGIBLE?

We do want you to tackle real issues in the real world. So yes, the Letter of Intent should address a problem in today's society using design as a solution. However, the solution does not have to actually be completed in the real world.

HOW FAR ALONG DOES MY SOLUTION NEED TO BE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED?

Entries at the start–up stage are acceptable as well as those at more advanced stages of development.

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE MUST I HAVE IN ORDER TO ENTER THE SUMMIT?

As the call for proposal states your initiative must be "backed up by a solid plan and the capability to move the solution forward." It is not essential that your idea actually be implemented, but it must be solution that is realistic and helpful to society. The career stage of an applicant or team is of less importance than the overall capacity and ingenuity of the idea. At a minimum, you need to be 18 years of age.

CAN I ENTER AS A TEAM WITH ANOTHER STUDENT?

You can but you risk both of you not being selected.

We are most interested in reading your letter of intent and understanding its value. SUMMIT values process driven work, so feel free to submit sketches of projects that haven't come to fruition. Any work sent will not be returned, unless you provide a way of sending it back.
